Welcome to the Biology Olympiad Prep Group Class Registration Page
These Biology Olympiad prep classes are designed for students in Grades 9–12 who are passionate about exploring competitive biology. Topics covered include biochemistry, molecular & cell biology, plants & animals, anatomy, and evolution, with a special focus on problem-solving and effective memorization for the Biology Olympiad (USABO). We do a deeper dive into high-yield topics like biochemistry and genetics that benefit students in the Open and later rounds. Topics covered are also greatly helpful for other competitions like Science Bowl and Science Olympiad.
Classes begin with an active and engaging lecture session with the instructor, followed by a group problem-solving session with personal feedback for each student. Students will reinforce the content taught in class by completing the assigned problem sets before the following lesson, where there will be a brief review. Problems will either be taken from past competition exams or be written to mimic them in style. Students will have access to lecture slides and problem sets for review, as well as proprietary study guides and plans for performing well in competitions. Additionally, the instructor will be reachable online to answer any questions outside of class hours.

Laurie is studying computer science and biology at MIT, where she has researched genetics and uses of AI in medicine. She has taught biology extensively both online and to local students, preparing them for a wide range of science competitions like Biology Olympiad, Science Bowl, and Science Olympiad. She has involved herself in high school biology competitions, achieving National Top 75 in USABO, National Top 8 in Science Bowl, and state champion in Science Olympiad events like Anatomy & Physiology, Cell Biology, and Disease Detectives. In teaching, she values active recall, memorable mnemonics, and intuitive analogies for deeper understanding and retention.
